Chainsawman Episode 4

 This episode was filled with one more battle and hilarious relationships forming. At first the leech devil after cutting off Denji’s arm engages in a battle and taunts Denji. They fight for a while in an epic battle where they say whoever wins has the more important dream in life. But Denji doesn’t have enough blood in him to turn into the full chainsaw man and only gets one arm to turn. As he fights the monster he gets some hits in and slices it’s throat. But this is where things turn, as Denji gets impaled straight through the chest by the devil leaving a gaping hole. Just as the devil is about to eat Denji, Kon the Wolf directed by the other main character male eats the leech devil alive and frees Denji. It then cuts to Denji being in a hospital bed and healed which may seem weird but is normal because he is part devil and just needed a blood transfusion.

The story then cuts to Denji and the other main guy sitting at their house when Power now has to live with them as directed from the woman in charge. This is something that Denji and the other main guy hate. She is a mess and leads to a series of tasks that now shows that the way of the apartment is now in shambles because these three should not live together!

There wasn’t much Japanese I could understand, and that may be due to me watching it late at night. I did hear te form and kurasaimasenka used when not in the battle scenes. I additionally heard tabete used as well as wait in the form of matte. Many words I didn’t recognize within my vocabulary.

Mix of Japanese Songs to study with

This music was super relaxing to listen to and got me in a mood to be more proactive with my work. I liked the rhythm and flow of the music, it reminded me closely to music from my childhood that was on the radio but just in Japanese. I thought that the music felt very love and city oriented, which makes sense when I think of where these song artists live.  I was able to fully hear て forms and heard みたい, きかない、and many other grammar forms that I know. I also heard a lot of する、ある　as dictionary forms for words used in the songs. The speaking was very very fast with vocabulary I was unfamiliar with but I could understand the sentence structure and so generally could break down if they were talking about wanting something, doing something, past tense, and other particles.

Jeffery Angles Event

This event was super fun to be a part of! It was a great way to start the day and I learned about his story which was increasingly fascinating as he continued his story. He seemed very intelligent with how to be respectful to others while learning their language and understand where we lack the words and that it can be more beneficial to listen. I thought his poems were amazing and how he met his biological mother for the first time when he was in Japan was super surprising. His story made me realize that no matter where we think we are going to end up in life, we have no idea. There are so many things that can happen and just accepting the present moment may be much more beneficial then trying to plan out our future. I think this was made apparent when he spoke on how he became a translator and that he never thought of being a poet but just tried it out one day and now he's ended up where he is today.
