Chainsaw Man Episode 2

 This was a really cool episode that involved the main character Denji being saved by this girl who is in charge of an organization that takes out and kills devils. She took him in almost like a pet and clothed him and fed him and then set him up to work with a guy who seems to understand the ropes. He teaches Denji and us what a fiend is and who they are going to go take out is a fiend, Denji instantly takes it out and then they have a long talk about the importance of understanding that devils are bad no matter what. They go on to report to the lady in charge and the lady sets Denji up with Power who is a fiend working with the agency. They go out and find out that if they fail they will both be put to death because they are each part devil. Power seems to not care and they continue their patrol. The episode ends with power smelling devil blood and they run to find a devil which Power brutally kills. I recognized an invitation form of eat at the beginning of the episode (tabemasenka). I also could feel the intensity and playfulness of situations by hearing the informality when using -kunakata vs -kuarimasendeshita. Additionally I could start picking up on inflections more commonly while listening to the material.

Mix of Japanese Songs to study with

This music was super relaxing to listen to and got me in a mood to be more proactive with my work. I liked the rhythm and flow of the music, it reminded me closely to music from my childhood that was on the radio but just in Japanese. I thought that the music felt very love and city oriented, which makes sense when I think of where these song artists live.  I was able to fully hear て forms and heard みたい, きかない、and many other grammar forms that I know. I also heard a lot of する、ある　as dictionary forms for words used in the songs. The speaking was very very fast with vocabulary I was unfamiliar with but I could understand the sentence structure and so generally could break down if they were talking about wanting something, doing something, past tense, and other particles.

Jeffery Angles Event

This event was super fun to be a part of! It was a great way to start the day and I learned about his story which was increasingly fascinating as he continued his story. He seemed very intelligent with how to be respectful to others while learning their language and understand where we lack the words and that it can be more beneficial to listen. I thought his poems were amazing and how he met his biological mother for the first time when he was in Japan was super surprising. His story made me realize that no matter where we think we are going to end up in life, we have no idea. There are so many things that can happen and just accepting the present moment may be much more beneficial then trying to plan out our future. I think this was made apparent when he spoke on how he became a translator and that he never thought of being a poet but just tried it out one day and now he's ended up where he is today.
