Chainsaw Man Episode 1

 This show is so so good. It started off with this poor kid Denji who is uneducated and alone. He has this doggy with him that is actual a devil with a chainsaw as part of his body. They do these bounties so that they can pay the bills and barely scrape by living. These bounties are him and Pochita the dog killing devils that are invading places. They seriously barely scrape by and denji wakes up in the middle of the night coughing up blood from not eating for so long. They then go to do this other contract but we’re tricked and were going to be killed by this zombie thing. Denji gets killed and is chopped to pieces and put in a dumpster. Then we slowly see pochita come in and speak to him though this dog has never been able to do that before. He explains that he is going to give him denji his heart because he they love each other like a person loves a dog. He lends him his heart so that Denji can show him his dream that he always has for them. The dog heals and puts Denji back together now being in his heart. Denji pops out of the dumpster and pulls his chainsaw cord and takes out all of the enemies. The episode ends with him being saved by this random girl and her side kicks. 




This episode was so great and I totally understood a lot of words and sentences. I understood words such as いぬ、くるま、たべもの、のみもの. I also understood sentences like location (こうえんに行って下さい) meaning please go to the park. I understood some other words but I still used subtitles so I sometimes leaned on them to understand what was going on.

Mix of Japanese Songs to study with

This music was super relaxing to listen to and got me in a mood to be more proactive with my work. I liked the rhythm and flow of the music, it reminded me closely to music from my childhood that was on the radio but just in Japanese. I thought that the music felt very love and city oriented, which makes sense when I think of where these song artists live.  I was able to fully hear て forms and heard みたい, きかない、and many other grammar forms that I know. I also heard a lot of する、ある　as dictionary forms for words used in the songs. The speaking was very very fast with vocabulary I was unfamiliar with but I could understand the sentence structure and so generally could break down if they were talking about wanting something, doing something, past tense, and other particles.

Jeffery Angles Event

This event was super fun to be a part of! It was a great way to start the day and I learned about his story which was increasingly fascinating as he continued his story. He seemed very intelligent with how to be respectful to others while learning their language and understand where we lack the words and that it can be more beneficial to listen. I thought his poems were amazing and how he met his biological mother for the first time when he was in Japan was super surprising. His story made me realize that no matter where we think we are going to end up in life, we have no idea. There are so many things that can happen and just accepting the present moment may be much more beneficial then trying to plan out our future. I think this was made apparent when he spoke on how he became a translator and that he never thought of being a poet but just tried it out one day and now he's ended up where he is today.
