Cyberpunk Edge Runners Episode 4


 This was by far one of the coolest episodes so far. So much was jam packed into 20 min. In the episode we see the main character David try to get more into edge running begging Maine to give him a job. He is this eager kid and you can totally tell by the tone of his voice and how he constantly asks please (kudasai). He gets put on these little missions and slowly gets better and you see this growing development of him with the team but especially him with the main girl, Lucy. As they are running in the night we hear a little more about her past and see why she runs so much. So then they all go out to drink and we see them all hanging out and the tone is super happy and fun and light hearted. This was the crazy part of the episode as when they are standing outside and there is a cybercycotic individual that is defecating outside. One of the guys (the fifth in the picture) from the group went over to him and was yelling at him when all of a sudden he gets shot in the head by him and everyone without a beat starts running. It was insane because the emotions were not sad as in crying but more so angry as in that was our group and we are gonna get you back. It was a crazy turn in tone and defined felt like the world of cyberpunk where that can just happen. Some of the words I could identify was otouto, ane, okane, and hashiru. (I am sorry they aren’t in hiragana since I am writing this on my phone which does not have a Japanese keyboard)

Mix of Japanese Songs to study with

This music was super relaxing to listen to and got me in a mood to be more proactive with my work. I liked the rhythm and flow of the music, it reminded me closely to music from my childhood that was on the radio but just in Japanese. I thought that the music felt very love and city oriented, which makes sense when I think of where these song artists live.  I was able to fully hear て forms and heard みたい, きかない、and many other grammar forms that I know. I also heard a lot of する、ある　as dictionary forms for words used in the songs. The speaking was very very fast with vocabulary I was unfamiliar with but I could understand the sentence structure and so generally could break down if they were talking about wanting something, doing something, past tense, and other particles.

Jeffery Angles Event

This event was super fun to be a part of! It was a great way to start the day and I learned about his story which was increasingly fascinating as he continued his story. He seemed very intelligent with how to be respectful to others while learning their language and understand where we lack the words and that it can be more beneficial to listen. I thought his poems were amazing and how he met his biological mother for the first time when he was in Japan was super surprising. His story made me realize that no matter where we think we are going to end up in life, we have no idea. There are so many things that can happen and just accepting the present moment may be much more beneficial then trying to plan out our future. I think this was made apparent when he spoke on how he became a translator and that he never thought of being a poet but just tried it out one day and now he's ended up where he is today.
