Jeffery Angles Event

Image
This event was super fun to be a part of! It was a great way to start the day and I learned about his story which was increasingly fascinating as he continued his story. He seemed very intelligent with how to be respectful to others while learning their language and understand where we lack the words and that it can be more beneficial to listen. I thought his poems were amazing and how he met his biological mother for the first time when he was in Japan was super surprising. His story made me realize that no matter where we think we are going to end up in life, we have no idea. There are so many things that can happen and just accepting the present moment may be much more beneficial then trying to plan out our future. I think this was made apparent when he spoke on how he became a translator and that he never thought of being a poet but just tried it out one day and now he's ended up where he is today. I wanted to try a short poem below: Gone the day goes, Drifting away and coming ...

ビデオ プロジェクト

I really enjoyed this conversation practice! It was super fun and let me get to know one of my classmates better. It is a fun little dialogue where ハイドさん comes up to me while I am working and stressed out and it leads to a conversation about us talking about going to go get something to eat at a restaurant in town. After we get there we have a little conversation about what to order which ends with us asking for our waiter. Here is the video below in 3 segments: video Link is https://files.fm/u/8nsgxqcfx The file size is too large to upload here...I don't know what to really do about this. I tried to break it up into 4 small files to make it work but I think it looks really bad so I turned it into a link!

Mortal with you by Mili

Image
Felt super relaxing like a Pokémon game but then ramped up like a climactic story ending. It felt like it was going through a powerful ending to this individual's life. Like they were giving all of their power to save everyone and it was peaceful and filled with love through the bravery and kindness of this mortal giving all they have. It felt this way by the use of the piano and pulled on my heartstrings. It felt like the main character in a story was passing away to save their loved ones. I liked the song so much I replayed it twice and used it as a way to meditate by listening to the strings and piano music in it. I did not recognize many words but heard every single character used. I heard ない forms often and heard the use of こと a couple times too. I was able to predict the plot though based on the use of the instruments. It felt super important like this mortal individual was passing away to save their loved ones. It felt like the looking back and the sadness, love, intensity ...

Bet on me by JUJU

The beat was electric. It was like a groovy anime and that was so fun to listen to something created now yet gives off the vibe of a 80's song. The song was about betting on this girl in the sense of you can "bet on me" like she is reliable. I thought the allusion to gambling in the music video by the cards and card suits on the screens behind her showed that too. The song came in with high energy and just mage me get into a rhythm with my work. I thought that song was super energetic, fun, and felt very much like it was from Japan. I think it is cool to see the cultural differences even present in music.  I didn't understand much of what was being said but I could hear the syntax of what she was saying and could understand sentence structures. I also was able to understand when she said 何も even though I didn't know what she was saying about nothing. I also heard the しょう and dictionary forms.
